The Old Bank Steak & Ribs Restaurant - Guest Feedback
Here is some recent feedback from some of our guests describing their experiences at our restaurant.
"I was very lucky to celebrate my 50th birthday on Saturday at The Old Bank, well the service was amazing & the food soooo delicious, it was a perfect evening, I was surrounded by all my wonderful family, a big thank you to the staff, nothing was too much trouble, we had a highchair & my wheelchair with no fuss at all.
Will be going back as soon as possible, a truly relaxing & mouth watering experience, best steak ever eaten!!!!! keep up the good work."
"I would like to express my thanks to 'The Old Bank' team for yesterday evening's excellent level of service.
As a member of Brighton RNLI, I was on duty yesterday evening whilst I was sat in your restaurant as an emergency was called in. I had to dash off immediately but I understand from my partner that your staff were very accommodating when they learned of the reason for my sudden disappearance.
My partner and I had just placed our order with your staff as my pager sounded and someone arranged for my meal to be saved and packed up. I would like to pass on my gratitude for the kind service that you offered and let you know that once the emergency had been dealt with, I was very grateful to return home to my food!
Once again, thanks for the excellent service and we will certainly be back for more ribs at some point in the near future!"
"We visited the Old Bank on Saturday night with 6 of our friends and had a brilliant time. The service was first class, the food was of a very high standard and the ambience was great. We are already working out when we are all free to go back again."
"It was genuinely one of the nicest evenings in a restaurant that I have had for a long time, we will be definitely going back!"
"Went into the Old Bank last night and much to our surprise there was live entertainment too. The service and food were first class and the staff really did make us feel welcome.
It was the perfect way to relax in their booth seating after a hectic weekend and finish off a couple of bottles of wine. I can't wait for next Sunday to do it all again. A big thank you to the Old Bank for moving into my neighbourhood!"
"Hidden away between Kemp Town Village and St James Street, is a very nicely designed restaurant, perhaps romantic so perfect for a meat loving partner! The ribs were highlight of the visit.. I am not a wine person, but they seemed to match the wines to the meat dishes very well. If you like bbq style cooking, and the extra few surprises that the manager can recommend you, then check it out."
"I was one of the lucky few selected to join this wine tasting and food nibbling evening, which I first heard about through Twitter. The website for The Old Bank Steak and Ribs Restaurant, situated in Brighton's trendy Kemptown, was very enticing and I discovered I wasn't to be let down at all.
I received a warm welcome from consistently attentive hosts, sampled a delectable (and carefully chosen) selection of wines. The General Manager, Jonathan Speirs, certainly knows his wines and pleasantly shares his knowledge of which will best complement your chosen platter. Not being a fan of reds, unfortunately, the Prosecco was the first drink we were treated to and remained my firm favourite.
Surrounded by decor both stylish and homely, my group were presented with small portions from the menu to try including a melt-in-the-mouth goats' cheese, tender ribs, chicken wings (too hot for me to handle!) and sumptuous steak.
I would highly recommend this restaurant as a place to take the family for a treat or to wow a date with succulent steak and ribs accompanied by fine wines."
"I had a great evening at The Old Bank, a lovely atmosphere in this great independent restaurant. The food was tasty and the wine was amazing! The manager was really friendly and informative especially about the wines. I highly recommend it."
"I love this restaurant - just what Brighton needs, a really classy, grown up place but not stuffy or pretentious - reminiscent of the best of Cape Town or Sydney restaurants.
I escaped the kids and went for a rare dinner with my husband who is generally down on eating out favouring music, comedy or parties. And he was totally won over because of the great, friendly (but crucially not overbearing) service, the food which was superb - beautifully cooked and flavoured - and the fab wine list.
Massive thumbs up."
"I've lived round the corner from the Old Bank for years and this is what Kemptown has been crying out for. A great value, cheerful restaurant with no-fuss food. The vibe is relaxed, decor tasteful and staff couldn't have been nicer.
As you'd guess from the name it's steak, burgers and ribs but there is also a good range of lighter meals and salads. Three of us went for lunch and we tried the steak and burgers and both were excellent. You can also try a single rib which, as a rib fan, couldn't be passed up. The problem is once I tried one I wanted a whole rack.
We ate without the kids at lunch but they seem to be family friendly and have a good kids menu for under a fiver so we'll be back.
If you want a nice relaxed lunch or dinner in Kemptown at a reasonable price I'd highly recommend this place.
